2010 FORMULA 1 KOREAN GRAND PRIX (Yeongam)

What a race!!! Actually... more of half a race! There was a lot of anticipation for the Korean GP but this certainly wasn't necessarily a good start for the track. While it was predicted, the rain was more 'damaging' to race then expected. Most of us expected a processional race with the top 3 maintaining their positions. However, as with any race that is wet, it's unpredictable, and unpredictable it certainly was! Both RBR drivers were out either with a driving error & engine failure.

Admittedly this was quite unexpected but it's great to see F.Alonso & Ferrari back at the top (sorry all! ;-))

Anyway, there are still 2 more races & if this race is anything to go by, anything can happen. So, this will be a great end to the season.

In the meantime, apparently I managed to gather the most points in this race (not that it helped a lot!), so everyone pretty remained where there are. The table as follows :

2010 FORMULA 1 KOREAN GRAND PRIX (Yeongam) - Meog-Eulgeo!

Although most of us (if not all) have tasted/experience Korean food, this is a fairly uncharted territory when it comes to doing it ourselves. So, rather than attempt at creating an authentic Korean meal, we opted instead for the next best thing that the Koreans love.... Bar-B-Q!

Since the race was delayed due to the weather, it was actually good timing as it allowed us to have tea & we had one of our all-time favorite, pisang goreng, all the way from Jakarta!
Once tea was over, we started setting up the Bar-B-Q pit for dinner. Note the 'charcoal' used. Quite effective although it was a bit of a slow fire, it was nonetheless, quite useful.
To begin with, as always, BBQ sausages for the kids..!!
Although this looks a bit morbid.... in actual fact, in it, lies some very delicious fish!!
Prawn fritters..... quite savory & tasty!
The fish that was in the pit earlier...
A variation of the fish, this time Korean BBQ sauce! yummy!!
I had wanted to attempt Kim Chee... but there was sufficient time, so we bought it ready-made instead
Very refreshing salad...Japanese style - courtesy of Mr.Chew
 Bar-B-Q in progress

Really nice BBQ Beef Steak... medium!!

BBQ Squid....!

The sinful indulgence did not end there... for desert we had a BarBQ Banana with mashmellow & butterscotch - courtesy of Pat!

I attempt a Korean dessert which didn't exactly turn too well but I guess drinkable ;-)
It's called Su Jung Gwa but this is a simple version as it's taken as a form of tea.

That's it... quite a feast as always. Since there are 2 races left, and with Brazil being one of them, we could potentially only have one more of the F1-themed meals. However, I understand that Party Central will be closed during the last race at Abu Dhabi, so this is essentially the final race (at least for this year) that we get together as a group.

I'll continue to post the results of course & if there any 'food gatherings!' ;-)

2010 FORMULA 1 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX (Suzuka)

Firstly, my apologies for the delay in updating this. Juggling between 2 'jobs' (stay-in dad & working from home!) can be quite a challenge!

In any case, there's really isn't much to say. RBR must be on some sort of steroid-filled green tea or the sashimi they had literally gave them RAW power!

Taking 1-2 puts them is a clear path to the team championship, although with S.Vettel taking first, the same can't be said for M.Webber. With just 3 more races to go, F.Alonso is now in 2nd with S.Vettel with only 14pts difference to M.Webber. So, it's going to be an interesting last few race.

The next race would be interesting as this will be an even playing field since this is a new track. I would go as far as to say that if RBR wins this, it's almost certainly a sign of their imminent championship victory.

It'll be interesting for sure...

As for our little league, we now have a new leader in VF toppling C&AL who 'dominated the charts for 7 races! Looks like it's going to be interesting for us as well, at least for the top 4...  :-(

2010 FORMULA 1 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX (Suzuka) - Oishii tabemono!!

Since this was during exam season, a few of us got together & still managed to conjure up an impression Japanese meal mostly thanks to Pat!  So, for those of you who couldn't make it, this is what you missed!!!

Is this impressive or what! Typical Japanese, sushi!
A form of sushi, with all it's ingredients
A closer look at the sushi wrap. Nothing beats a do-it-yourself sushi!
 Some of the ingredients
The very important sushi ingredient... fish roe

A closer look at the other sushi
My first attempt at the ever popular miso soup
Once again... this is what you missed! ;-)

All in all... very very delicious... (if I may say so myself!)
