Anyway, the race in Hungary was always going to be inevitable based on the qualifying positions given the lack of overtaking opportunities. Unless of course, you screw up, in which S.Vettel did, it would almost certainly mess up your race. Had he not decided to take a nap during the safety car, perhaps he would have done better. Despite that though, it was still an impressive 3rd place for him. Equally predictable is Mr.Webber winning the race once he's ahead.
F.Alonso should be commended for his valiant effort in getting 2nd place, hence the podium in what was clearly a relentless Red Bull charge. Overall, it was a pretty predictable race.
The other talking point was of course the move by MS on RB. I've read through quite a few blogs & reports on this & there are really 2 different views. One, of course that it was an unfair move & the other is that RB is a whiner.
I took the effort to scan through some of the videos available in YouTube , specifically the ones with RB's on-board camera. My thoughts are that, it was pretty clear to him (RB), that MS is moving to the right & that it was indeed a single move. The question really is, RB could have taken MS on the left as there's plenty of space, why didn't he? To say that it was intentional to push him to the wall is perhaps somewhat cynical as it was literally just 2-3 seconds from where he was to being side by side.
I believe that the whole hoo-hah is simply that there are people on the MS camp & there are those that are not & the criticism is based purely on this (Read the comment in YouTube). I will go as far as to say if it was a different driver, I'm almost certain the reactions would be different. A case in point, is Ayrton Senna. As great a driver he is, he employs such tactics very often (& frankly it was quite obvious) but yet no one really mentions it. Perhaps the aggression is what makes a driver great.
In any case, irrespectively of what my views are, all I would say is that this is ultimately racing. While its really nothing to shout about, I've done a bit of racing on karts for quite a bit to understand this. In the end, adrenaline + testosterone can be a very potent mix.
So, it'll be a long break before we get back together & continue our F1 jamboree. Until then, here are the results for the race.
